Facebook Makes Easy Way For Pages To Go Live From Desktop

Facebook has introduced a feature to go live from a page in its web application. Now one doesn’t need a smartphone or tablet to go live on Facebook and interact with their page audience. However, this applies only to pages but not to the daily Facebook users.

In addition to making it easier for Pages to produce live streams, Facebook is rolling out a few features to help Pages get people to tune in and interact with those live streams.
  • Facebook started rolling out a “Live Contributor” role in Pages, allowing admins to designate specific individuals to go live on behalf of a Page. This gives contributors the flexibility to stream great live content from a mobile device on behalf of a Page whenever it happens, while allowing the Page admin to maintain security and control over their Page. Check this link to know how to setup.
  • Facebook has introduced lightweight insights that will provide a way for public figures, such as celebrities, journalists, etc., to understand how their video content performs on Facebook. It is available for both individual live and regular public videos. These insights include total minutes viewed, total number of views, and total engagement of the video.
  • Pages will now be able to pin live comments to the bottom of a broadcast. It is useful during Q&A sessions, to let viewers know which question is currently being answered. This update lets publishers to personalize their broadcast and highlight specific comments for their viewers.
You can read more updates at Facebook’s blog. You can also check out the ‘Facebook Journalism Project,’ a series of new updates on its Journalistic standards and efforts to work more closely with the newsrooms and make its commitments very clear to the industry.
